Carson James

Tomorrow will mark 4 weeks since our little guy arrived! He is such a precious little one, Billy and I are so blessed!

Carson James Maslan joined us on November 15, 2011 at 3:40pm. His due date! I had been going to the doctor every week to check my progression and wasn't having any luck. At 39 weeks he measured 8 pounds, and with a family history of large babies, the doctor recommended I not go too far past my due date. On Monday, November 14th, we went in for my 40 week checkup and still no progress. The doctor gave us our options and Billy and I decided we were ready! I began my induction that night and went into labor Tuesday morning. His grandparents joined us for the big day!

We couldn't have asked for a smoother delivery, recovery, and of course precious and easy baby. He is just perfect in our eyes and we can't stop looking at him. Even after a night of feedings and losing sleep, I just can't put him down, but make myself find time otherwise I would not shower, eat, or get much done around the house! :-) Sure he has his moments of crying, but we are now usually able to determine why and he is easily consoled. One hurdle we still need to jump is running errands with him. We took him with us to the grocery store last night and he began to cry halfway through the trip which made me get him out of his car seat to put him back to sleep. We passed by another couple with a baby doing their shopping and their little one was very content (yes she was a little older) but in a joking way, Billy grabbed my arm and said, "What is their secret!?" haha

Carson has had a lot of firsts in his first month of life. First trip to the beach (holiday family picture), first road trip (to Georgia for the opening of the hospital), first holiday (Thanksgiving), first trip to the mall (mom and dad needed to get some Christmas shopping done!), and of course all the newborn firsts. He is such a trooper and didn't fuss much through any of it!

Carson loves to have his head rubbed and hair washed, to be cuddled when he is tired, to listen to fun or soothing music to calm him down, to look at the lights on the tree or out the windows, to hold tight on to mommy with one hand while nursing, and to play with daddy and practice holding his head up!

We can't believe he is already almost 1 month old and can't wait to watch him grow. I do hope it goes slow enough to enjoy :-) He is such a lucky little guy with so many people that love him that haven't even met him yet. Thank you for all your well wishes! We all really appreciate it!

Holiday cards and baby announcements should be in the mail this week (finally I know...). :-)

Happy Holidays!

What started as a way to update our families on Carson and our little family, has turned into a diary of memories that will be added to Carson's baby book. Memories that we will be able to look back on and laugh at in the future!
