8 Months Old

A couple weeks ago we celebrated Carson’s 8 month birthday! This past month he continued to surprise us with all of his new tricks. In the past month he has:

Started to CRAWL
Begun to pull himself up
Taken his first ride in a golf cart (attached to mommy in the Bjorn of coarse)
Celebrated his first 4th of July
Started eating chunks of soft foods and cereal “puffs”

As soon as he turned 6 months old he started to show interest in crawling. By 7 months he was on his way! Right before his 8 month birthday he was pulling himself up. Now our little boy is crawling like a baby on a mission around our condo and pulling himself up on anything he can find! Baby proofing has begun. Mommy’s nice décor is slowing moving up higher or being stored away and daddy has to keep a closer eye on his iPad and TV remotes. All the plugs are covered, and a foam edge has been added to our Ikea coffee table. Next on our list of baby-proofing: kitchen and bathroom cabinets, toilets, and possibly a new TV entertainment center. Carson loves to climb right up to the TV which is almost at his eye level – mommy hates this. He also started grabbing the blue-ray player which is not behind a door at the moment. 5 more seconds and he probably would have pulled it apart!

He continues to practice his sounds with “mama” “dada” and “ahhhba” being his favorites. He loves to watch cartoons, play in the pool, explore new things, watch our doggie friends, and laugh at mommy and daddy. Some food that we have added to his list: Turkey, chicken, avocado, and blueberries. Mommy has made homemade peas and green beans which he does not like. He does however love homemade mango, peaches, sweet potatoes and bananas! Mommy and Carson also like to share a piece of fresh fruit!

Lessons learned from the first time parents:
Don’t put a littler swimmers diaper on the baby until you are about to go in the pool. We put Carson’s on after his nap hoping to feed him and head out to the pool. He peed on mommy during his feeding. Gross!

What started as a way to update our families on Carson and our little family, has turned into a diary of memories that will be added to Carson's baby book. Memories that we will be able to look back on and laugh at in the future!
