What a year it has been! I can't believe a year ago we were spending our first week at home with baby Carson learning how to be parents and care for a newborn. Carson arrived just before Thanksgiving and we couldn't have planned it better. What an amazing gift to be given right before the holiday season. Our happy and healthy boy truly gives us something to be thankful for!
Carson had a great birthday. We celebrated for a week straight! First, we had a party at Grandma and Grandpa Mases house. Almost everyone from the family was able to make it. Cousins Nick, Cooper, Samantha, J.D., Abby, Grace, Kaylee, and Olivia were there along with Brett, Jenn, Kyle and Lisa. Both sets of Carson's grandparents, Uncle Jesse, and mom and dad's friends Paula, Darrell, Lindsey, and Dimitri joined the party. What a full house! We played out in the yard, ate snacks, pizza and cupcakes, let Carson eat his smash cake, and opened gifts. What a lucky boy to have so many people come celebrate with him!
On his birthday, Carson went to school in his "My First Birthday" onesie. I joined him in his classroom at lunchtime for their Thanksgiving feast. Carson then shared cookies at snack time with his friends to celebrate his birthday. That night, mom, dad, and Ms. Paula took Carson out for a Mexican dinner followed by another cupcake at home!!
Lastly, on Saturday following his birthday mom, dad, and Carson met their friends Carolyn, Daryl, and baby Sophie (6mo) at the park to play and eat MORE cupcakes!
Sunday was the end to all the fun because Carson had to get his 1 year shots. He had 3 shots this morning which he was not happy about. I will never understand why parents get so emotional to see their newborn get shots. That was a piece of cake for me! They don't cry for nearly as long, and they were just in the hospital where they were getting poked all the time. For me, the older gets the harder it gets. He is harder to hold down, and he cries actual tears. He also holds a grudge for much longer. Billy and I hated it. :(
After the appointment, we took him to Target to pick out a new toy. We usually do this after a tough doctor's visit. However, Carson passed out in the car and we carried him around the store the entire time haha. When he woke up, he was happy to see his new Elmo phone! Mommy did a good job picking his toy out.
Carson's new stats:
Height: 31"
Weight: 26 lbs.
90% for weight
80% for height
The nurse said he will most likely have a growth spurt soon since he has only grown 1/2 inch since his 9 month visit and his weight is climbing. I had a feeling one was coming! He is wearing mostly 18 month clothes but the pants are too long so he can use another inch or two!
Billy and I are still trying to get used to the idea that we no longer have a baby.
